Dedication of "Walter"
Walter is a kritosaurin saurolophine hadrosaur dinosaur that was discovered on the outskirts of town. Walter is a 74-milion-year-old duck-billed dinosaur. On July 3, 2026 we had a public dedication ceremony as well as the 250-150 celebration. It brought many people to the museum as we had Dr. King speak to everyone followed by a kids day, full of fun with a dino dig, refreshments, and goodie bags. Thank you for everyone who came and supported the Rangely Outdoor Museum.
2nd Grade Field Trip 2026
We had a great time welcoming the 2nd grade classes from Parkview Elementary, along with their teachers, Mrs. Lohse and Mrs. Broome, for their annual field trip to the Museum! The students enjoyed exploring the exhibits, learning about our town's history, and seeing what life was like many years ago. They asked lots of great questions and had fun checking out everything the museum has to offer. We always enjoy sharing our local history with young visitors and hope they had as much fun as we did!
LDS Youth Clean Up 2026
Each year the LDS youth group comes out and does yard work around the museum. This year we had such a great turn out. They helped with many things including; mowing, raking leaves, blowing walks, and more. We are so thankful for their help each year in getting the museum ready to open for the season.
2nd Grade Field Trip 2021
We had the honor of hosting the two 2nd grade classes from Parkview Elementary on May 26th. The kids along with their teachers; Brooke Loshe and Laurel Blackburn enjoyed checking out all that the Museum has to offer. They especially liked the Jail and the Black Light room. We had a great time showing them the buildings and talking a little about our history.
